One of the great aspects of #MeetTheMedia is that attendees get to actually meet the media, not just for the program they represent but as individuals and this journalist is a real character. The Channel Nine Today Show correspondent in Perth, Nine News journalist and 6PR Weekend Brunch Presenter, Michael Genovese is one of the hardest working media people I know.

In this podcast, Michael talks about his start in media and the people that have inspired him along the way, to how he found himself in a job that he would probably do for free if he weren’t being paid for it. Working in the media is more than a job to Michael. He loves what he is doing and he now has a very different take on media since his first inquiry into becoming a journalist to what he has achieved to date in both TV and radio.

Some of the key takeaways for experts include some very smart tips on how to practically connect and engage with a journalist.  Michael tells us about how he still gets nervous before a show which will be music to the ears for some experts.  It’s always a bit daunting to have a camera and/or a microphone thrust upon you.

It was inspiring having Michael on the podcast – his joy and passion for the work he does really shines through. He named a few people who have played an important role in developing his media career, including Tim Gossage, Jo McManus, Sean Menegola and his wife Jerrie Demasi.

Get to know your media so you will be better prepared to deliver your story and more likely to be more successful.
