Is it time to get my career back on track?
Many people have probably ‘hunkered down’ and stuck it out with jobs they otherwise wouldn’t have with the logic “at least I have a job!”. Given last week’s official figures that saw unemployment decline, a number of jobs created and the numerous stories from employers struggling to fill vacancies, should I now be considering dusting off my resume and looking for that better job? Here are five things to consider: 1. Always be open to good opportunities that present themselves. 2. Be mindful of what organisations you’re considering – we’re not home free by any stretch. 3. Understand the risks involved in changing employment. 4. Keep on everyone’s good side. 5. As always, keep the long term in mind.
