Little Athletics Victoria CEO Anthony McIntosh has staunchly defended the rights of transgender athletes.
There are as many as 19,000 registered participants and two have identified as transgender.
The head body has launched an official position on the issue and McIntosh told 3AW Drive it was important to take a stand.
“We’re talking about how we deal with these kids,” he said.
“What we expect our parents, officials and volunteers to do with these kids is not that complicated.
“If a child athlete identifies as a particular gender, then that’s how we treat them.
“We don’t try and overcomplicate things.”
